Brandon Helder is an authentic folk and Americana singer-songwriter whose songs are rooted in honest storytelling and the places and people that shaped him. Raised bouncing between Minnesota and Wisconsin in a family where music was woven into everyday life, Brandon grew up on the tunes of John Prine, Bob Dylan, Townes Van Zandt, and the timeless traditions of folk and classic country music.
In 2017, while living in Fort Collins, Colorado, and finding his way, Brandon picked up the Hohner guitar that once belonged to his late grandfather, Rex Helder, reconnecting with his musical roots. He's been writing songs ever since. Every lyric and melody comes from lived experience of his or from the perspective of others, reflecting the people, places, and moments that have left their mark.
Guided by a deep appreciation for poetic simplicity, Brandon believes the most powerful songs don't need to be complicated—they just need to be true. Accompanied by guitar and the occasional harmonica, he writes music that values honesty over polish and substance over spectacle.
Now based in Colorado, Brandon isn't interested in chasing trends; he's interested in creating genuine connections. His hope is that every song finds a place in someone's own story, reminding listeners that the most meaningful music is often the most honest.
